You stay in control.
Nothing Spiro's AI produces is ever saved to a pupil's record, sent to a local authority, or shared with a colleague until a member of your staff has read it and approved it.
Artificial intelligence
Our philosophy, how the platform uses AI today, and how we ensure a responsible & secure implementation.
At Spiro, we believe that AI can enhance the human element of SEN provision rather than replace it.
By taking the repetitive paperwork off your team, keeping every pupil's plan tailored and measurable, and surfacing what might otherwise be missed, Spiro aims to give you the hours that hands-on support needs.
However, it's critical that we use AI responsibly and securely. As such, none of Spiro's AI suggestions or document drafts reach a pupil's record until a member of staff has reviewed and approved. Additionally, Spiro's AI runs entirely in the UK, under agreements that mean nothing is kept by the AI provider afterwards and nothing is used for training.

Nothing Spiro's AI produces is ever saved to a pupil's record, sent to a local authority, or shared with a colleague until a member of your staff has read it and approved it.
02
Spiro's AI only writes from the evidence you've provided. You choose the data & documents to work from, and where the evidence is thin, it says so.
03
Spiro suggests, drafts, extracts and flags. It doesn't diagnose, predict outcomes, or decide the support a child should receive.
04
Spiro hosts and processes pupil data exclusively in the UK and is protected under UK data protection laws throughout its journey.
When you onboard a pupil to Spiro we use AI to help you build their individual support plan from any existing documentation you may have. This may be as simple as uploading an existing support plan, or you can provide a broader range of evidence about the child's needs and goals to inform the support plan.
Upload an issued Education, Health and Care Plan and Spiro extracts the outcomes, the intermediate steps, and the Section F, G and H provision, turning each into a target or an intervention on the pupil's profile. Every item is extracted as a draft, for you to confirm or correct before it becomes part of the plan.
Spiro can draft an EHC needs assessment application from the evidence in the pupil's record plus whatever you upload, written to your local authority's format. Where the provided evidence for sections is light, Spiro will say so, enabling you to add further detail. You can then refine documents section by section — give Spiro rough notes, and it will redraft the section around your feedback. Alternatively, make edits to the document directly.
Spiro drafts the progress report from the observations your team has logged across the term — what happened against each target, and where progress has stalled. It then suggests revised and new targets and provision for the term ahead. If you use Spiro's development journals or keep an intervention bank, Spiro will make suggestions from these.
Upload any report to a pupil and Spiro extracts the recommendations, showing you what's new and what's changed. You apply the ones you want to the plan in a click, and leave the rest.
Teachers and TAs can save time by dictating their observations and behaviour logs to the platform rather than typing. Spiro uses AI to convert voice to text; inserting appropriate grammar while leaving the words untouched.
Nothing hits a pupil's support plan or record from uploaded documents without you approving it first.
Where targets and provision are extracted from uploaded documents, the document is linked, enabling you to verify its origin.
AI is given the pupil's profile, targets, provision, observations and the documents you've uploaded — and writes only from those.
Where evidence is limited or missing for document drafts, Spiro flags this rather than inventing evidence.
Every draft and every plan version is archived, so you can always see what was in place, when, and who approved it.
